In a minute everything changes. Fifteen-year-old Jenna Flood's discovery of a bomb ticking down from sixty seconds is the first in a series of explosive revelations that destroy her understanding of the world and her place in it. Jenna believes she is an ordinary teenager, busy with schoolwork and helping her father run a Key West charter boat. But when a team of killers shows up, intent on erasing her from existence, she learns the unbelievable truth she is not who she thinks she is. Alone and on the run, betrayed at every turn, Jenna's path takes her from sun-drenched Key West to the alligator-infested Everglades, the streets of Miami, and the Caribbean islands. Along the way brutal criminals, deadly assassins, and the forces of nature conspire to end her life unless she can rise to embrace an impossible destiny and unleash her own lethal potential. Everything Jenna has been told about herself is a lie, and the truth is a secret that may destroy the world--or save it.

Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis, the best-selling team behind The Brainstorm Trilogy, Prime, and Savage, have thrilled audiences with stories of science gone wrong and monsters on the rampage. Now they break new ground with a taut suspense thriller sure to appeal to fans of 24 and The Bourne Identity, with all the pulse-pounding, gut-wrenching action you've come to expect.

Flood Rising A Jenna Flood Thriller Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Jeremy Robinson Sean Ellis Xe Sands Breakneck Media Books

Flood Rising is an exciting new thriller from the combined minds of Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis. The story takes Jeremy and Sean’s familiar themes of mystery and suspense down a whole new and utterly intriguing path. Both authors have an extensive catalogue of thrilling stories involving Special Operations soldiers, science fiction/science gone wrong and espionage but not until now have they united these themes together to tell the story of a most unlikely protagonist...Jenna Flood, a 15 year old girl turned from an everyday beach bum teen to a confused victim and then ultimately into a heroine with a startling destiny. It’s difficult to accurately provide a detailed description of this story without giving away critical spoilers so I will not even attempt such an undertaking. What I will say is that there is action from the very opening chapter and, aside from a slower backstory flashback towards the center of the novel; the action never really lets up. At times you wonder how much more mayhem can be heaped upon this poor teenage girl but as each hit literally comes you become witness to Jenna’s growth as a heroine and her discovery and development of skills and abilities she never really knew she had until pressed upon to utilize them. Jenna goes from confused and scared to confident and controlling right before your eyes.

There are moments when the story reminded me a bit of the action thriller movie “Hannah” (which if you are familiar with that movie you will understand where I’m coming from as you read Flood Rising). There are also some common and currently popular science fiction/conspiracy themes that have made such programs as Orphan Black wildly popular. If you enjoy that type of entertainment then you will most certainly enjoy Flood Rising.

Overall the characters are strong, in particular the character of Jenna who is totally believable in her role. The writing style is fast paced and flows rather easily Admittedly early on I felt that some elements of the story were predictable and some of the science can get a bit deep to the point of confusing but never did that predictability or the scientific premises take away from the overall enjoyment of the novel. Towards the end, however, the story takes one twist and then another turn that I honestly didn’t see coming…surprises that I wouldn’t qualify as shocking but still exciting none the less. The ending, to me, served to ramp up the action and leave this reader with the hope for future adventures featuring young Miss Jenna Flood. As a disclaimer I will state that I was given an advance copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review…which I feel I have provided. I will also say that even with a free advance copy I still went and purchased my own copy for my library. Flood Rising is exciting, enjoyable entertainment and a bold new direction for two established thriller authors.

Flood Rising A Jenna Flood Thriller Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Jeremy Robinson Sean Ellis Xe Sands Breakneck Media Books Reviews

I purchased "Flood Rising" a few months ago when it was on sale for .99 cents in the kindle store. For 2 months, it sat there on the front screen but for whatever reason, I kept ignoring it. I see now that it was a huge mistake.

Having a creative writing degree myself, I sat through plenty of classes where instructors and professors said that books that are a mile a minute get boring and never give your reader a chance to breath. That there has to be slow parts in every story or you run the risk of annoying and tiring out that reader. Obviously, none of those professors have ever read anything by Jeremy Robinson. Of course there are a few times (like maybe 2 chapters) where the action slows down a bit, but for the most part, this book never really lets up. And you know what? I loved it.

Simply put "Flood Rising" has to be one of the most action packed, non-stop, explosive (pun is definitely intended there) thrillers I have read in a long time, and because of that, it's probably one of the best. That should surprise no one who has read Robinson before. The guy continues to put out spectacular thrillers...often times multiple titles a year. Yes there are few so-so books in his bibliography ("XOM-B" and "Island 731" just to name a few), but for the most part, he always seems to deliver stories that grab on and won't let go. This one is no exception.

All I can say is that Hollywood is missing out on tapping Robinson for either the rights to his books or in hiring him as a screenwritter. Forget Michael Bay or Zach Snyder!
Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis have written another intense, action filled, intriguing and fun to read book with promises of sequels yet to come. I was pleasantly surprised at how rapidly 'Flood Rising' sucked me into the pages, since the main character is a young 15 year old girl by the name of Jenna Flood, and I prefer books with mature main character(s).

However, her character is portrayed in such a way that she grabbed me by the heart. I found myself rooting for her to face and overcome every obstical thrown in her way, deal with her insecurity and indecisiveness, among other challenges she had no choice but to face in order to ensure her survival, since someone is hell-bent on destroying her. She did have help though - - - a scientist by the name of Soter, a woman like her, and the wisdom, love and advice from Noah, her ex-military father; although his sincerity and trustworthiness was being questioned by Jenna throughout the book.

On the run from an U.S. government termination team, seeking the truth about herself - as to why she has some unusual gifts, Jenna goes to New Mexico with her father, Soter, as well as people that want her dead, because they too want answers and realize Jenna is the key. Some of the mysteries that have plagued her begin to reveal unpleasant truths about who she is and her purpose in the scheme of things.

Science, secrets, mysteries, conspiracies, soul-searching, violence, unpredictability, faith in oneself and trust are some of what makes 'Flood Rising' (I just LOVE the title) a fast read.

I believe you will enjoy this book, whether or not you've read books by Jeremy Robinson and/or Sean Ellis (two very talented, visionary, and creative writers).
